Crowling the web, i found a weird signature that a user had. It displayed memory usage, cpu usage and some other stats on his pc. I thought it was weird and it might have been a custom thingy he did and hosted. Soon i found l33tsig. This is a service where you download and install a client of the service that every now and then it uploads such stats (your cpu usage, memory usage etc) and when the sig is displayed it shows the latest stats. Anyways i think you should give it a look and install if you think it’s worth it. I don’t think i will but you should see for your self.
It’s been a while since i last posted on the “hardcores or masochists” series. This is due to lack of time since an article like this one requires 4-5 hours of research and coding. But here i am again with a simple one. You must have heard about a “proxy server”. What it is, is what it actually means. It stands between you and the rest of the world for various protocols (http, ftp, ssl etc). In this small tutorial we will see how the HTTP proxy works and a small program example doing just that. The past few days the weather here in Greece is in a boiling temperature. As i was extracting an archive today i got this alerting message from the syslogd:
Message from syslogd@lee at Fri Jun 20 17:26:17 2008 …
lee kernel: CPU0: Temperature above threshold
Now as you can imagine i was alarmed. I went directly to the box and saw that there was a small rug covering the side of the box. Normaly the heat was growing. I removed the rug and installed a small fan i had for the heat. The problem went away but i thought that there must be a way to monitor your temp. Here is how i did it.
In Greek mythology there are millions of myths with heroes and quests. One of the most famous ones was the quest that Jason went through to get the Golden fleese. There was a special ship built for the voyage, from Argus, called Argo. It was a Trireme kind of ship. It had a single row of rawers on both sides, each with 25 of them. Today i heard that in Chalkis there was a remake of that ship just passing by.As i found out later it is on it’s way to Venice (God knows why) and what was weird enough is that is moving the old way. They have 50 actual people to raw and they are taking it this way all the way to Venice! Seeing it close enough i was impressed on how small it is. Those 50 people should just fit in there tight enough. But i guess it had to be small to be easy to move around. So you can see the pics i took on the gallery here. Hope you like them!
